It can be extremely frustrating and stressful to go through the criminal process only to be disappointed with the decision handed down. However, the decision of the local court is not necessarily the final stage of criminal proceedings.
Depending on the circumstances of the matter, if this has happened to you, you may be able to appeal to the District Court of NSW on the grounds that your sentence was too severe or that the guilty finding is wrong.

Annulments
Similarly, if you were convicted or sentenced in your absence, depending on the reasons for your absence, you may be able to have the decision annulled and have the matter reheard.
