Our client was pulled over for a random breath test and produced her sister’s licence and stated her sister’s name as her identity. She was charged with two offences:
1. Driver/Rider state false name/address; and
2. Fraudulently use/lend/alter driver’s licence.
The client’s reputation was important to her, particularly for future employment in her chosen industry. Our client pleaded guilty to the offences. She provided us with an excellent character reference and we made detailed submissions to the Court on her behalf to reduce the possible penalty (total $4400).
The Court accepted our client’s submissions and dismissed one of the offences. Our client was fined only $250 for the other offence which was less than 12% of the maximum fine the Court could have imposed for that offence and less than 6% of the maximum fine the Court could have imposed for both offences combined. Our client was very pleased with the result.
