A person planning to marry attended our office having already discussed a possible property settlement with their partner. They have a document which was prepared by their partner’s solicitor and are seeking independent legal advice on the agreement.
Throughout the conference it becomes apparent that they did not understand the document to the extent that they had thought prior to seeing our firm. Some important issues which would severely reduce their future rights were flagged for their consideration
I provided a comprehensive written advice to the client in relation to the document to go through in their own time and to give consideration to. Our client then re-attend our office with a significantly amended document and further extensive advice was given. After due consideration to the amended document it is signed and sent to their partner’s solicitor.
Our client was very happy with the outcome. They had been concerned about their position after receiving advice in relation to the first document and now they feel much more comfortable that the document looks after their interests.
