General exceptions as set out in part 6 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW) include:
- Statutory authority- requirement of an Act, regulation etc, except:
- Financial Institutions (NSW) Act 1992
- Friendly Societies (NSW) Code/Regulations
- Co-operatives Act 1992.
- Registered Clubs Act 1976.
- Charities- act doesn’t affect any charitable benefits given to those categories of people who can be discriminated against.
- Religious bodies- appointment of priests, training/education.
- Voluntary bodies- nothing in act restricts admission to membership of a body/benefits/facilities.
- Establishments providing housing accommodation for aged persons.
