What the law states
The offence of causing or inducing prostitution is outlined in section 15A of the Summary Offences Act 1988 (NSW). The offence involves inducing another to commit prostitution by either coercive conduct or undue influence. Furthermore, a person must not induce or cause another to surrender any proceeds of an act of prostitution through coercive conduct or undue influence.

Possible defences to causing or inducing prostitution include but are not limited to duress and necessity.
Penalty
The maximum penalty for this offence is either 50 penalty units which currently equates to $5500, or 12 months imprisonment.
